Hungry World Farm, hungryworldfarm.earth,Tiskilwa, Illinois, seeks four energetic, team-oriented interns for the 2021 growing season. We welcome applicants who are considering farming as a vocation, who are ready to work hard with a team, and who are eager to learn. Hungry World Farm staff and interns work and learn together as we care for soil and animals, grow food, and share the good news of regenerative agriculture with visitors to our educational farm.
Hungry World Farm is a non-profit farm ministry founded in 2017 with a mission of inspiring and educating neighbors near and far about healthy soils, healthy food, healthy bodies, and a healthy planet. On our 175 acres, we raise organic vegetables and fruits, practice intensive rotational grazing of livestock, nurture a native prairie relic, and steward 100 acres of forest.
Interns at HWF can expect to devote about 25 hours per week engaged in experiential learning through farm work in gardens, with livestock, or general farm maintenance. 10 hours per week will be dedicated to focused learning through field trips, presentations, conversations, and recommended reading/viewing. Interns are encouraged to participate in farm community gatherings such as shared meals, team-building, prayer circle, bonfires, and outings.
Interns should leave HWF with a broadened understanding of regenerative agriculture, strong experience in a wide variety of farm activities, and a deepened love for God and all of Creation. Together, HWF staff, interns and volunteers work hard, laugh lots, eat well, and learn plenty!
Intern applicants may choose between a Full-season internship, from April 1 to October 31, or a summer internship, from June 1 to August 15. Alternate dates may be discussed with HWF staff upon application.
