Community Mennonite Church of Lancaster, Lancaster, Pa., joined Mennonite Creation Care Network’s Green Patchwork Congregations in May 2012.
Wendell Ressler, Lancaster, Pa., is the congregation’s first creation care liaison to MCCN. Ressler is a mathematics professor who enjoys bicycling and gardening. He reports that the congregation recently formed a Creation Care Committee, and the group is advocating a voluntary gas tax. They will use the proceeds to upgrade the environmental quality of their building.
Community Mennonite is an urban congregation of about 450 people. The group has an affinity for the arts, and their building includes an art exhibit known as the Parrot Gallery.
