Doctrine of Discovery Study Guide

Dismantling the Doctrine of Discovery is a movement of Anabaptist people of faith working for justice for Indigenous people—especially in relationship to land issues.

The five modules and Bible Reflections in the study guide are assembled by Katerina Friesen are available free online. Each module contains a case study about acts of contrition and reparative justice. For example, one session includes the story of John Stoesz, whose family decided to sell a farm that was originally Dakota land and give half the profits for Indigenous land justice.

The Mennonite Features Creation Care

The March 2017 issue of The Mennonite focused on creation care. If you don’t subscribe, they make it easy for you to make a donation and read the issue online. Heather Wolfe, the MCCN creation care liaison from Taftsville Chapel Mennonite Church, wrote about her church’s journey. TM also included Jennifer Schrock’s article entitled, Ten Types of People Who Care About Creation. The version linked here is slightly longer–but free.

See a one-page-handout of the types for use in group discussion.
